Photo Session Tips

LIFESTONE PHOTOGRAPHY

Maternity Session

◦ Maternity photo sessions should be taken between 34-36 weeks pregnant. The reason for this is your belly looks fully round but it's not to close too your due date just in case you deliver early.

◦ Wear form-fitting clothing that really shows off your belly.

◦ Bandos or other garments to just cover the chest and leave belly exposed are recommended.

◦ Tops that button at the top and can open around the belly work as well.

◦ Try to have both partners’ clothing look cohesive in style and colours.

◦ Have any personal props ready for use, ie; Baby booties, ultrasound photos, scarves, hats, etc...

Newborn Session

◦ Newborns should be photographed before the baby is 10 days old, if possible. (If age exceeds this recommended time frame it's not a problem at all.) This is recommended because a newborn can sometimes be more willing to be in difficult positions. The older in age of a baby, may influence the position choices they are willing to perform.

◦ Make sure food is readily available for the baby, as well as any items that would influence sleep for the baby.

◦ If photographs are to be taken in your home, please have the temperature of your house warmer than usual.

◦ Have any personal props ready for use, ie; Knit blankets, baby hats, hair clips/ bows, outfits,etc...

Baby & Children Session

◦ Book the time of the session when it's not the baby's regular nap time if possible.

◦ Bring small portioned snacks for the baby, or their regular food.

◦ Have approximate 2-3 outfit changes ready for the baby, but keep in mind that most babies will lose their energy while changing clothes too often.

◦ Have any personal props ready for use ie; Knit blankets, baby hats, hair clips/ bows, toys, etc...

Family Session

◦ If there are multiple family members in the session, please arrange for everyone to arrive 10-15 minutes earlier than time booked.

◦ Please coordinate all family members to have the style and colors of their clothing cohesive.

◦ Avoid bold patterns, stripes, plaids, and logos on clothing. The reason for this is to not have any one family member stand out more than the rest.

◦ If there are smaller kids involved, please bring small portioned snacks to eat during the shoot if needed
